Black Grouse-2
Black Grouse Tetrao tetrix
This bird looks calm and confident.
To photograph these birds requires getting into a hide after dark when the birds have left the lek in the evening, and then waiting for the birds to arrive early morning. The birds arrived at 04.00 when the light was too poor for photography. Photographing black grouse is not easy as they have dark bodies and white tail feathers. The dim light meant ISO of 4000 to allow for a reasonable shutter speed, necessary to try and capture some of the action. The birds left the lek around 08.00
